Omegle

I was introduced to this cool website called Omegle a few years ago.
“What is Omegle?” I asked my friend. At first, I thought it was some sort of
vitamin. “Try going there! www.omegle.com you will like it” my friend said and I did.
Once you get to the website, you will see this button
saying “start a chat”. Once you click the button, you will start a conversation
with a totally random stranger that you have never met. Mostly, people will say
“asl” which means “Age, Sex, Location”, for example: “22 y/o, male, Brazil”. If
you don’t like the person, just disconnect. Once you disconnect, you can find
another person to talk to.
If you want to improve your English by talking to
someone online, Omegle is the way to go. By socializing more with another person
in English, you will be able to improve your writing (some how) and your speaking skills (in case you use a webcam).
Livemocha

A very interesting way to practice English is by using online
resources. Livemocha is a social network of speakers of many languages, where
native speakers help who want to learn their native language. You choose the
language that you want to learn, and check the ones you can speak. You learn
and teach at the same time.
There are lots of
lessons, vocabulary and grammar exercises. You can also record your
voice and get your pronunciation checked by other users, who send you a
feedback. However, you should
bear in mind that the natives who give you feedback are not necessarily
teachers, and that their feedback may not necessarily be accurate. The best thing about it: it’s for free!
